The Swim School UK pool is a purpose-built, private swimming facility located in Kendal, Cumbria. Designed specifically for teaching, it offers a calm, controlled environment where children and adults can focus, feel comfortable and build confidence in the water without the distractions of a public leisure centre.
This is not a shared pool or a temporary setup — it’s a dedicated space created to support structured swimming lessons and long-term progression.
From industrial container to a calm learning space
The pool at Swim School UK has a story of its own — one built on patience, hard work and a desire to create something different.
A new purpose
The pool was created using an industrial shipping container that has been repurposed and given a completely new life. Rather than building something generic, the aim was to create a space with character and purpose.
Built, reinforced and refined
The container was sliced, retrofitted, reinforced and coated, with the surrounding structure custom built to support it. It took significant time, effort and attention to detail to get it right.
A space designed for teaching
The result is a unique swimming environment designed specifically for lessons — calm, private and well-suited to helping swimmers feel at ease in the water.

Built from a repurposed industrial shipping container, the Swim School UK pool was designed to give new life to an existing structure and transform it into a calm, private environment dedicated to teaching. The container was sliced, retrofitted, reinforced and coated, with the surrounding structure custom built to support it, resulting in a pool measuring 12 metres long, 2.3 metres wide and 1.2 metres deep. Every stage of the build focused on creating a space that feels considered and controlled — one that supports confidence, comfort and focused learning for swimmers of all ages.
Comfortable, warm water with high hygiene standards
The pool is heated using a customised heat pump system that helps regulate water temperature while maintaining high hygiene standards. The system automatically filters the water at regular intervals to ensure it remains clean, comfortable and safe.
This creates a welcoming environment where swimmers — particularly young children and nervous beginners — can relax and focus on learning rather than feeling cold or rushed.

Easy to reach, simple to arrive, calm once you’re inside
The Swim School UK pool is located in Kendal, Cumbria, just a short walk from the town centre and easy to access for families travelling from the surrounding area. The facility is a five-minute drive from the A6 and approximately twenty minutes from Junction 36 of the M6.
Parking is available directly outside the building, with five dedicated spaces, along with a further seven spaces in the overflow area. There are also several larger public car parks located a short walk from the pool, helping to make drop-offs and collections straightforward and stress-free.
From arrival to lesson time, the focus is on keeping things simple, calm and well organised — allowing swimmers and parents to feel relaxed and supported before they even step into the water.
