How much does a swimming lesson cost?

Lesson prices depend on age and lesson type. Parent & Child lessons cost £22.50 per month, while adult one-to-one lessons cost £35 per lesson. A full breakdown of lesson types and pricing is available on the Lessons & Bookings page.

What ages do you teach?

Swim School UK teaches all ages. Lessons are available for children from under one year old through to adults in their eighties. Whether you’re nervous in the water or already confident, lessons are adapted to suit your ability and experience.

Can I book individual lessons?

All lesson programmes are booked in minimum two-month blocks. Swimming is a skill that develops over time, and consistent lessons allow for meaningful progress, confidence-building and skill development. Most swimmers attend one or two lessons per week.

What availability do you have?

Lesson availability varies depending on programme and time of year. Current availability can be viewed online. If you can’t find a suitable time or lesson type, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to help.

Do you offer one-to-one and group lessons?

The pool & facilities

What facilities are available?

The Kendal facility includes a heated swimming pool, changing areas, showers, toilets, a playroom area and a refreshments space. The environment has been designed to be calm, practical and welcoming for swimmers and families.

What size is the pool?

Our pool supports swimming lessons for all ages and abilities in a controlled, private setting, it measures:
- 12 metres long
- 2.3 metres wide
- 1.2 metres deep

How is the pool heated and kept clean?

The pool is heated using a customised heat pump system that helps regulate water temperature while maintaining high hygiene standards. The water is automatically filtered at regular intervals to ensure it remains clean, safe and comfortable.

How was the pool built?

The pool was created using a repurposed industrial shipping container. The container was sliced, retrofitted, reinforced and coated, with the surrounding structure custom built to support it. The result is a unique, purpose-built swimming environment designed specifically for teaching.

Yes. There are five parking spaces directly outside the building, with a further seven spaces available in the overflow area. Several larger public car parks are also located a short walk from the pool.

- 5 minutes’ drive from the A6
- 20 minutes’ drive from Junction 36 of the M6
